As announced in the SUMMER (NET NEWS 7/10), RADIO ONE on MONDAY (11/4) launched the TV simulcast of its three-hour syndicated radio news show for mornings hosted by former CNN commentator ROLAND MARTIN. The third hour of "NEWS ONE NOW" is being simulcast on RADIO ONE's cable TV network TV ONE as well. MARTIN's NU VISION MEDIA is producing the WASHINGTON-based show with RADIO ONE.
RADIO ONE CEO and Pres./TV ONE Chairman ALFRED LIGGINS said, "Filling a glaring gap in the current cable news programming landscape, NEWS ONE NOW builds off our success online. NEWS ONE NOW extends our presence to a complete multi-platform experience where we can serve the African-American audience with news and analysis that is specially curated to suit their needs, concerns, interests and passions."
MARTIN added, "Our program will not only keep Black America abreast of major breaking news and hot-button issues, it will also shed light on peripheral stories that spotlight events and individuals making a concentrated, positive impact in our communities. Our audience can not only expect to be informed, but also enlightened and inspired."
