ASCAP Holds 51st Annual Awards In Nashville

CMA Week festivities continued MONDAY NIGHT (11/4) with the 51st Annual ASCAP COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, handed out in the Grand Ballroom of NASHVILLE’s MUSIC CITY CENTER.
Writers of Country’s most-performed songs between APRIL 2012 and MARCH 2013 were honored, with the Songwriter of the Year award presented to JOSH KEAR. He shared Country Music Song of the Year honors with CHRIS TOMPKINS, for their collaboration of “Drunk On You.” Country Music Song of the Year honors also went to NEIL THRASHER for “How Country Feels.”
The ASCAP Country Music Publisher of the Year prize went to WARNER/CHAPPELL MUSIC PUBLISHING.
GEORGE STRAIT was presented with the ASCAP FOUNDERS AWARD, in a segment that included musical homage to the “King” of country from GARTH BROOKS, ALAN JACKSON and LEE ANN WOMACK.
