'Iron Mike' Bensson Passes

Veteran BUFFALO rock radio jock MIKE BENSSON died NOVEMBER 7th following a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 60. BENSSON worked at the old WBYR (now WLKK), WUFX (now WEDG) and WJJL-A/NIAGARA FALLS.  "IRON MIKE" became a beloved personality on CHTZ/HAMILTON, ON, where he spent the past 15 years.

After his death was announced, CHTZ personalities and listeners shared their memories of “IRON MIKE” on-air while playing some of his favorite tunes. A previously scheduled benefit in BUFFALO to help “IRON MIKE” with his medical expenses will go on in his memory.  It will take place on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24th from 2-6p at CASA DI PIZZA, 477 Elmwood Ave. The cost is $20.
