HUBBARD Sports WXOS (101ESPN)/ST. LOUIS is adding former CARDINALS pitcher BRAD THOMPSON as co-host of "THE FASTLANE," the station's 2-6p (CT) afternoon show with D'MARCO FARR and RANDY KARRAKER, beginning in JANUARY. THOMPSON has been a fill-in for 101ESPN for the past two years. In addition, former crosstown CBS RADIO News-Talk KMOX-A and SPORTING NEWS RADIO sports host KEVIN WHEELER is joining the lineup with his own show as of NOVEMBER 25th.
THOMPSON said, “This is a huge opportunity for me, and I couldn’t be more excited about joining D'MARCO FARR and RANDY KARRAKER and 'THE FASTLANE' Show on a permanent basis. We have great chemistry and play off each other in a fun and entertaining way. The listeners have always been very positive about my radio work, and I am looking forward to their continued support in my new hosting role.”
KARRAKER said, “BRAD did a fantastic job filling in for DUNC (midday co-host, who was off the air recovering from brain surgery). He’s already proven he is a natural when it comes to working with the two of us, and more importantly, relating to our listeners.” FARR added, “He brings a level of experience and knowledge – along with a certain levity – that is refreshing to interact with.”
WHEELER said, “Having listened to 101ESPN since the day it came on the air, I’m fired up to be a part of the team. The world of sports is about more than just 'games' for those of us who live in that world. Almost every good thing that has happened in my life, including meeting my wife back in college, has come through my connection to sports. I’m looking forward to sharing that passion with our listeners, and with my new teammates, on a daily basis. The guys who have helped build 101 have set a great standard, so BRAD and I have our work cut out for us to live up to that. I know this…we’ll have fun trying.”
PD CHRIS "HOSS" NEUPERT said, “Both BRAD THOMPSON and KEVIN WHEELER bring unique perspectives and experience to the 101ESPN team, and I am looking forward to getting them both on the air to enlighten and entertain our listeners.”
