Condolences to family and friends of former RKO RADIO VP of Engineering GEORGE CAPALBO, who died FRIDAY in WORCESTER, MA at 86, according to the BOSTON HERALD.
CAPALBO built the facilities of WAAF/WORCESTER and served as Chief Engineer at RKO's WRKO-A/BOSTON when it flipped to Top 40 in 1967, then, after building a new facility for WRKO, WRKO-F, and WNAC-TV (and WRKO-F's "Arko" automation system), he was upped to the national post for the RKO stations in 1973. His son, GEORGE CAPALBO JR., is CTO/VP of BACKBONE NETWORKS, which builds Internet streaming operations and radio automation.
