Longtime PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS radio voice BRIAN WHEELER will miss his first games with the team in his 16 years at the mic when he skips the NBA team's road trip to BOSTON, TORONTO, BROOKLYN, and MILWAUKEE due to illness.
The absence will snap WHEELER's streak of 1,359 consecutive BLAZERS game broadcasts since joining the team after stints with the SACRAMENTO KINGS and MONARCHS, SEATTLE SUPERSONICS, and CHICAGO BULLS.
The BLAZERS, who air on CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KPOJ-A (FOX SPORTS AM 620)/PORTLAND, will simulcast the play-by-play of COMCAST SPORTSNET TV broadcasters MIKE BARRETT and MIKE RICE with radio analyst ANTONIO HARVEY a temporary addition to the television broadcast while WHEELER recuperates.
