Some have speculated that the NIELSEN layoffs yesterday (NET NEWS 11/14) were as high as 500, while many others have told ALL ACCESS that it was closer to several hundred.  Either way, a good number of folks got severance agreements.  Some are staying on through the end of the year, some into next year, while others left the company immediately.

In all cases, reports have been that the separations were handled in a very professional manner, and most told ALL ACCESS that their severance agreements were "fair" and some even described them as "generous."

Either way, this all ties back to NEILSEN CEO DAVID CALHOUN's references to realizing "$20 million in cost synergies" on the company's SEPTEMBER 23rd conference call.
