Former Detroit Newsman "Capt. Rik Jagger" Dies In Crash

Condolences to family and friends of former WHYT-WPLT and WKRK (LIVE 97.1)/DETROIT newsman GREGORY "CAPT. RIK JAGGER" SYELOFF, who died in a single-vehicle crash WEDNESDAY night on I-94 in BLACKMAN TWP., near JACKSON, MI. 

SYELOFF, 50, was a veteran DJ, traffic reporter, and newsman who most recently worked as News Dir. at WKRK as well as serving as the newsman on JEFF DEMINSKI and BILL DOYLE's afternoon show there until exiting in 2002; police say SYELOFF lost control of his FORD F-350 pickup on wet pavement while entering the roadway.  During DEMINSKI and DOYLE's on-air tribute to their former colleague, DEMINSKI reported that witnesses say the accident occurred when SYELOFF veered to avoid an animal on the roadway.
