Music streaming service RDIO has confirmed to TECH CRUNCH that it has made "across-the-board workforce reductions ... to improve its cost structure and ensure a scalable business model for the long-term." The company did not offer any further specifics on the layoffs, although sources estimated the layoffs of 35 people -- "between one-fifth and one-third of the workforce, with significant cuts in engineering."
The news isn't totally unexpected, as MUSIC.ALLY reports that since a bevy of streaming services -- including SPOTIFY, TUNES RADIO, GOOGLE, BEATS, YOUTUBE, RHAPSODY, DEEZER and SLACKER -- are now battling for a piece of the pie, rival services RHAPSODY and SLACKER recently downsized their staffs as well.
