CHRISTOPHER LYDON is returning to BOSTON UNIVERSITY noncommercial News-Talk WBUR/BOSTON for a weekly show. LYDON, who left WBUR's "THE CONNECTION" in a contract dispute with then-GM JANE CHRISTO 12 years ago after hosting the show in 1994-2001, will host "OPEN SOURCE WITH CHRISTOPHER LYDON" on THURSDAYS 9-10p (ET) starting in JANUARY, with a repeat over the weekend. LYDON and his producer MARY MCGRATH, who will also return to WBUR for the new show, will continue to produce the "RADIO OPEN SOURCE" podcast, which will be offered through WBUR's website.
GM CHARLIE KRAVETZ said, “We’re thrilled to bring CHRIS back to WBUR. He’s a unique voice and captivating host who manages to be both highly accessible and highly intellectual. CHRIS also has a keen understanding of the digital space and is an innovator in his own right, pioneering the creation of the nation’s first real podcasting effort through his OPEN SOURCE website. We know CHRIS is going to be a great addition to our on-air and online platforms.”
LYDON added, “We’re bringing ‘OPEN SOURCE’ back to our first radio home, WBUR in BOSTON. Drawing on our roots in BOSTON and our interest in the wider world, we’ll be re-launching radio and online conversation as challenging, as engaging, as various, as irresistible as we can make it.”
