The PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE's BOB SMIZIK reports that the PITTSBURGH PIRATES are close to a deal for next season's radio broadcasts, and, as expected, CBS Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH, the team's radio home for over 50 years, is facing a challenge from CLEAR CHANNEL's FM Talk WPGB.
PIRATES VP for Marketing and Broadcasting TIM SCHULDT told SMIZIK that "both are good deals... One has strength in one area, the other strength in another. It will come down to which strength is most important to us." SCHULDT's recommendation to the club's ownership is expected next week.
