Talk radio icon LARRY KING took a couple swipes at the current state of Talk radio in an interview with comedian and podcast host MARC MARON, POLITICO reports. After noting that he was in “the beginning of Talk radio” with his national show on the MUTUAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM beginning in 1978, he’s not a fan of what the format's current state..
“It became a soap box,” KING said. “Screaming, yelling idiots. A lot of what I hear is pop nonsense, political crazies. ... the LIMBAUGHS and those guys are just playing with a loose deck. And a lot of it is an act.”
Although KING dislikes cursing on the air, nevertheless he has come around on HOWARD STERN. “Earlier, I didn’t buy a lot of that act, but now I understand he’s matured," he said. "He’s a very good broadcaster.”
