Minor league baseball's HUNTSVILLE STARS are returning to the broadcast dial for 2014, inking a deal with STEVE JARNICKI PRODUCTIONS and FOCUS RADIO CO. Talk WTKI-A/HUNTSVILLE, AL for the coming SOUTHERN LEAGUE season. JARNICKI, who called the independent league FLORENCE FREEDOM games last year, will handle the play-by-play. The STARS aired on WTKI before moving online.
WTKI GM FRED HOLLAND said, "We are definitely excited to have the STARS back on WTKI. Since this is where the franchise was originally introduced we look forward to continuing our long and storied history."
JARNICKI said, "I'm extremely excited to be able to make the jump into affiliated baseball. It's been a lifelong goal to one day broadcast MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL. The STARS and the SOUTHERN LEAGUE have a great tradition with a countless amount of players having played in HUNTSVILLE that has gone on to make an enormous impact in the major leagues. I look forward to describing all 140 games to the HUNTSVILLE community and further extending the interest of the STARS and the (MLB parent MILWAUKEE) BREWERS organizations."
STARS GM BUCK ROGERS added, "In his eight years of broadcasting, STEVE brings a wealth of experience to the table in both the broadcasting and business side of the operation. We are stoked to be back with the folks at WTKI for our 30th season of HUNTSVILLE STARS baseball, and we have STEVE to thank for making that happen!"
