Longtime music promotion executive and accomplished athlete BRUCE HIX passed away early yesterday morning from complications related to ALS. BRUCE excelled in many sports and in 1967 played for the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS.
Following his playing days he entered the music industry working for several labels, among them WARNER BROS., MOTOWN and POLYGRAM. He also did afternoons at KSJJ and did independent promotion.
Longtime friend DAVE SHOLIN said, "BRUCE was a natural born athlete. He loved the challenge of facing an opponent and winning. He brought that same competitive edge to his many years working in promotion. He had little patience when hearing the word 'no'. Fiercely loyal and a true original I'll always treasure the many great times we shared."
