ESPN/ABC announcer PAUL PAGE will return to the mic to call the INDIANAPOLIS 500 and INDYCAR SERIES this season, reports the INDIANAPOLIS STAR.
PAGE, who has called NHRA drag racing and the NATHAN'S hot dog eating contest on TV for ESPN and called races for the INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY RADIO NETWORK in 1977-87 after reporting from the pit in 1974-76, replaces MIKE KING as the radio voice of the racing series.
PAGE told the STAR, "It's an overused phrase, but it's almost a dream come true. I've always thought radio was so much more fun to do, and I think more artistic. A radio broadcast can be your creation.... It's so much more lively and creative."
