RAB: Radio Revenue Still Sluggish

The RAB reports that grand total spot and non-spot revenue for the radio industry was up 1% in JUNE 2006 over the same month from a year ago. Local ad dollars were down 1%, while national sales figures increased 1%, meaning total combined local and national ad revenue was flat. Non-spot revenue jumped 17% in JUNE.
Grand total spot and non-spot revenue for the second quarter of 2006 over the second quarter of 2005 was down 1% (local dollars down 1%, national dollars down 2%). Non-spot revenue rose 8% in the second quarter 2006 over second quarter 2005.
From a year-to-date perspective, grand total spot and non-spot dollars were flat JANUARY through JUNE 2006 compared to those same months from 2005. Local ad dollars were down 1%, while national ad revenue was flat, for a combined local and national ad revenue drop of 1%. Non-spot revenue climbed 8% for the period.
