Condolences to family and friends of former TV and radio manager and TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS President JOE JERKINS, who died TUESDAY (12/3) after a battle with leukemia at 88.
JERKINS started in radio and worked at KOMA-A/OKLAHOMA CITY before moving to TV in 1952 at WKY-TV, later KTVY(TV) (now KFOR-TV) in that market, where he worked from 1951-79. He moved to TEXAS as President/GM at ABC affiliate KVUE-TV/AUSTIN in 1979, adding VP stripes at GANNETT TV in 1989 before his 1990 retirement. He served as TAB President in 1991.
A service will be held FRIDAY (12/6) at NORTH WEST HILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in AUSTIN.
