On THURSDAY (12/5), HUBBARD BROADCASTING Hot AC KSTP (KS95)/MINNEAPOLIS gathered with the friends, family, and fans of ZACH SOBIECH, to honor the 17-year-old who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer (NET NEWS 3/8).
SOBIECH left a touching legacy through his music by penning a song entitled "Clouds" to say goodbye to his family and friends, and to offer support to those experiencing similar struggles.
According to WWW.TWINCITIES.COM, a choir of 5,000 people, gathered on four floors of the rotunda in the MALL OF AMERICA to sing ZACH's song. Those in attendance included the SKYVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR. The event was organized by KS95 as part of the KS95 FOR KIDS RADIOTHON. This year the event raised $773,049 for the cause.
According to KS95 VP/Market Mgr. DAN SEEMAN, "This song has touched so many people in so many ways that I think there is nothing more fitting than to let the people come out and sing it. It's been covered by everybody from VICCI MARTINEZ to MATCHBOX TWENTY, but it's really the people's song. It's for kids. It's for adults. It's for seniors. It's for everyone. And this choir is just going to be everyone."
