Maybe that's a reach, but a live performance in front of the huge crowd at the Crossroads of the World and millions more watching in their warm homes is a highly sought-after appearance, and this year, MILEY CYRUS gets that exposure on ABC's DICK CLARK's NEW YEAR'S ROCKIN' EVEWITH RYAN SEACREST.

The oft-controversial star tweeted yesterday, "Smilers! There's been a change in my NYE plans. @RyanSeacrest asked me to perform in TIMES SQUARE for #RockinEve!!"

SEACREST, guesting on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, said CYRUS will hit the stage "right before the ball drops." He added that CYRUS was the perfect fit because they seek an artist "that's created a lot of buzz and had a really big year."
