WWRL To Flip To Spanish

ALL ACCESS has confirmed a report in the NEW YORK AMSTERDAM NEWS that a format change coming to ACCESS.1 Talk WWRL-A/NEW YORK, which will flip to a Spanish-language format on JANUARY 1st.  The staff was informed of the change on FRIDAY (12/13).

Morning host MARK RILEY told the AMNEWS that he "knew there were trying to a roll out Spanish-language formatted stations about the country.  The nature of the business has changed so dramatically. They just dropped a handful of progressive radio stations across the country. It's part of a trend.”

TEAMSTERS Local 237 President GREGORY FLOYD, who hosts a show on WWRL. said he received the news in an email and phone call on FRIDAY and "did not know it was coming... Essentially we've lost one of the great Black institutions in radio in NEW YORK CITY.”
