CBS RADIO Sports KDKA-F (SPORTSRADIO 93.7 THE FAN)/PITTSBURGH also cuts staffers, with BOB SMIZIK writing in THE POST-GAZETTE that, "PAUL ALEXANDER is out as part of 'THE FAN Morning Show' (6-10a) and VINNIE RICHICHI is out as part of 'VINNIE and COOK' (10a-2p).
The report notes, "ALEXANDER is the most shocking of the two dismissals. RICHICHI long had been rumored to be in trouble with station management. The first hint that ALEXANDER was in trouble came in the SUMMER when GREGG GIANNOTTI, lead host of 'The Morning Show,' publicly announced his displeasure with ALEXANDER in a guest appearance on 'THE FAN' in NEW YORK CITY," and added "RICHICHI and RON COOK long have had an on-air feud that was for real and not a gimmick. The two definitely did not like each other."
PD RYAN MAGUIRE said the station will debut a new weekday lineup beginning on MONDAY, JAN. 6, 2014.
JOSH MILLER will join THE FAN’s morning show, while ANDREW FILLIPPONI will serve as co-host for the station’s midday program. Additionally, COLIN DUNLAP will move to evenings.
“Today’s announcement is an exciting step forward in the evolution of THE FAN,” said MAGUIRE. “We’re eager to showcase this new line-up that highlights the incredible talents of PITTSBURGH foremost sports experts.
“JOSH’s unique sense of humor and insight will set the tone for the remainder of the day, and in ANDREW, we have a solid, thought-provoking sports talk show host who has shown he can deliver an informative and opinion-driven program. COLIN has grown both as a talk show host and writer in the past year, and his work has scored big with our audiences. We are all very much looking forward to an exciting 2014.”
