As first tipped on ALL ACCESS in JUNE (NET NEWS 6/20), GREATER MEDIA and NASSAU BROADCASTING have worked a swap that gives NASSAU the 99.5 FM/LOWELL, MA-BOSTON frequency and WCRB Classical format and calls. The price: GREATER MEDIA gets Classic Hits WTHK (97.5 THE HAWK)/BURLINGTON, NJ, which is being moved into the PHILADELPHIA market, plus an undisclosed amount of cash. In the deal, GREATER MEDIA moves Country WKLB's calls and format to WCRB's present 102.5 FM/BOSTON facility.
GREATER MEDIA also owns Rock WMMR, Sports WPEN-A, Adult Hits WBEN, and Classic Rock WMGK in PHILADELPHIA and Talk WTKK, Country WKLB, Classic Hits WROR, AAA WBOS, and AC WMJX in BOSTON. NASSAU will incorporate WCRB into its MASSACHUSETTS holdings which include CAPE COD stations WPXC and WFQR-WFRQ. Closing is expected in the FALL.
