GORDON HINKLEY, whose MILWAUKEE radio career spanned 60 years, died this week at age 88, JSONLINE  reports. The "Granddaddy of MILWAUKEE radio" died MONDAY in WEST ALLIS, WI.

"He was the cornerstone of WTMJ radio for so many years," said JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS Chairman/CEO STEVEN J. SMITH who was once VP/GM of WTMJ and WKTI. "He knew how to connect with an audience, and you could tell he just loved being on that radio. People just believed in him."

In addition to his wife, HINKLEY is survived by three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private services will be held FRIDAY.
