Hawaiian Radio Legend Kimo Akane Passes

Iconic Hawaiian radio presence ASHTON "KIMO AKANE" KAIUWAILANI passed away last night. The HONOLULU STAR ADVERTISER reports that KIMO had been hospitalized and in a coma for two weeks, after suffering an apparent heart attack in mid-DECEMBER.

AKANE enjoyed a lengthy, successful career at several Hawaiian radio stations, such as 93Q back in the day and KRTR. Most recently he was PD at SUMMIT media Hawaiian KINE/HONOLULU.

He is survived by wife ELLEN, four children and a grandchild.
