Changes on the WACO radio dial, as the Urban format airing on M&M BROADCASTERS KWBT (104.9 THE BEAT)/WACO moves to 94.5, displacing the format on KENNELWOOD BROADCASTING News/Talk on KBCT. Former KWBT PD EDWARD GRAHAM, who leased use of the frequency from M&M, moves not only the music -- but most of the staff down the dial.
Meanwhile, the 104.9 frequency debuts a Top 40/R format as HOT 104.9.
THE WACO TRIBUNE reports, "M&M BROADCASTERS owner GARY MOSS said he felt the station could expand its audience by moving its urban/hip-hop programming toward a rhythmic contemporary hits sound that attracted more Latino and white listeners. GRAHAM resisted the idea, MOSS said, so M&M opted to end its agreement with GRAHAM and continue broadcasting on KWBT’s frequency."
