Phoenix-Area Station Merger Includes $11.3 Million KMVA Purchase

The merger of RIVIERA BROADCASTING Hot AC KEXX (MY103.9) and TRUMPER COMMUNICATIONS Hot AC KMVA (HOT 97.5)/PHOENIX into the simulcast HOT 97.5/103.9 TRENDING RADIO includes RIVIERA buying the KMVA/DEWEY-HUMBOLDT signal for $11,270,000, according to paperwork filed with the FCC. TRUMPER ends up with a warrant for 28% of RIVIERA.
In other filings with the FCC, OPUS BROADCASTING is selling three stations in the ALEXANDRIA, LA market, including Country KLAA-F (LA 103.5)/TIOGA, LA, Classic Country KBKK (105.5 K-BUCK)/BALL, LA, and Christian AC KEZP (104.3 THE BRIDGE)/BUNKIE, LA, and four in MONROE, LA, including AC KZRZ (SUNNY 98.3)/WEST MONROE, Rock KXRR (ROCK 106)/MONROE, Country KMYY/RAYVILLE, LA, and Top 40 KQLQ (HOT 103.1)/COLUMBIA, LA, plus its programming and ad sales services deal with FLINN BROADCASTING for AC KEDG (SUNNY 106.9)/ALEXANDRIA, LA and an ad sales deal with KP MUSIC GROUP for Urban AC KJMG (MAJIC 97)/BASTRUP-MONROE, LA to MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS for $2.2 million.
MCCLATCHEY BROADCASTING COMPANY, LLC is selling Oldies WKIX-F/RALEIGH and FM translator W254AS/LOUISBURG, NC to CURTIS MEDIA's FM102.9 LLC for $1.229 million. In addition, NEW AGE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. is selling Top 40 WWPL (PULSE 102)/SMITHFIELD-RALEIGH, NC to TRIANGLE MARKETING ASSOCIATES, INC. for $1.5 million. TRIANGLE MARKETING ASSOCIATES includes DONNA MCCLATCHEY, daughter of DON CURTIS, head of CURTIS MEDIA; her husband, WILLIAM M. MCCLATCHEY, JR., is the head of MCCLATCHEY BROADCASTING.
EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION is selling KQGC/BELEN, NM to THE ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY EDUCATION, INC. for $1. The station will serve as a satellite of the buyer's noncommercial Spanish Religion KMRO (RADIO NUEVA VIDA)/CAMARILLO, CA, the programming of which it has been airing since NOVEMBER 2010.
GEORGE S. FLINN, JR. is selling WMBZ/WAYNESBORO, TN to JUKEBOX MEDIA, LLC for $200,000.
VIC MICHAEL's CEDAR COVE BROADCASTING, INC. is selling noncommercial KLZR/WESTCLIFFE, CO to STEVE CHANDLER and BOB THOMASON's WET MOUNTAIN BROADCASTING CORP. for $3,000.
EDGEWATER BROADCASTING, INC. is selling FM translators K291BM/SEARCY, AR to CRAIN MEDIA GROUP, LLC for $18,000.
CARL TUTERA is selling FM translator W224CK/VESTAVIA HILLS, AL to BIBLE CHRISTIAN SOCIETY for $25,000. The station will rebroadcast Religion WQQH-A/IRONDALE, AL.
STARBOARD MEDIA FOUNDATION, INC. is selling FM translator W249CS/BOWLING GREEN, KY and W277CK/MADISONVILLE, KY to CHARLES M. ANDERSON for $10,000 plus up to $2,000 in legal fees.
And PEACE AND JUSTICE NETWORK OF SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY has requested an extension of its Silent STA for KYNJ/TRACY, CA "to complete power supply issues."

The stations include AAA KSPN and Country KSKE/ASPEN, Hot AC KKCH (THE LIFT)/GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Talk-Sports KNFO/BASALT, AAA KSMT (THE MOUNTAIN)/BRECKENRIDGE, AAA KFMU (SOLAR POWERED RADIO)/OAK CREEK, Country KRKY-A/GRANBY, Regional Mexican KRKY/ESTES PARK and KGRE-A/GREELEY (EL TIGRE), Classic Rock KQZR (THE REEL)/HAYDEN, Adult Hits KIDN (THE MOUNTAIN)/HAYDEN-STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Top 40 KIFT (LIFT 106)/KREMMLING, CO, and several FM translators.
