Best wishes to SAGA COMMUNICATIONS/PORTLAND RADIO GROUP Pres./GM CARY PAHIGIAN, who informed the company YESTERDAY (1/8) that he wanted to exit the company after 15 years to persue other opportunities.
PAHIGIAN wrote to the staff, ""About a year ago, I expressed to SAGA VP WARREN LADA that as I approach my 15th anniversary at PORTLAND RADIO GROUP, I had begun to ponder what my next professional challenge might be. I was certainly happy and fortunate to be working with the finest group of people I have ever met, but still, the impending 15-year mark was activating an area in my brain that had been quiet for years. WARREN asked me to forge ahead and see how I felt at the end of 2013.
A few months ago, I again shared with WARREN that it felt like my biological clock had gone off and I was quite sure I would likely decide to step down after the holidays. I felt that the only way to properly examine what I wanted to do and aggressively pursue that opportunity, was to focus on it 100%. It would be impossible to conduct that process and still remain at my best with the demands of this job. In addition, it was best to alert WARREN as to my likely intentions so that he could begin to deliberate a plan for succession and transition.
That transition begins today, as I will exit PORTLAND RADIO GROUP soon. WARREN has asked that I stay on for a period of time until we can identify a new Market Manager and prepare a smooth transition. I know WARREN always keeps a short list of managerial candidates, and my guess is he has several people in mind who he thinks may be a strong fit here at PRG.
I have many thoughts I want to share, and would like to do that in person with each of you over the next few weeks.
In the meantime, I am here conducting business as usual and ready to assist with any issues/projects that require my attention.
Thank you for the experience of a lifetime."
