Longtime R&F COMMUNICATIONS Country WDKN-A/DICKSON, TN host WARREN MEDLEY has retired at the age of 91 after 58 years in radio.
MEDLEY joined WDKN as the host of "SATURDAY SIDELIGHTS" in 1956, a year after the station's inception, and hosted several shows and sporting events for the station. He also created DICKSON's annual Old Timers Day in 1959.
In a report by the station, Co-Owner/GM KENNETH FORTE said, “The name WARREN MEDLEY is just synonymous with WDKN and he is going to be greatly missed. For three generations, Mr. MEDLEY has been a part of the broadcasting family in DICKSON COUNTY.”
The station plans to continue MEDLEY's "OLD TIMERS PROGRAM" and "KNOW YOUR COUNTY" and will air repeats of some of his shows in coming weeks. “We will never be able to replace the knowledge, history and style that Mr. MEDLEY brought to this radio station,” FORTE added. “We can only hope to pay tribute to his broadcasting legacy by continuing the many traditions he helped to create on WDKN.”
