CBS RADIO is seeking approval from the zoning board of MOORESTOWN, NJ on TUESDAY for a new 199-foot tower next to the existing tower of Talk WPHT-A/PHILADELPHIA, and CINNAMINSON PATCH reports that the tower has some residents concerned.
The existing WPHT facility has been blamed for interference plaguing local homes since the 50,000 watt transmitter was built over 60 years ago on the parcel off N. Church Street at the MOORESTOWN-CINNAMINSON border, east of PHILADELPHIA. Some local residents are complaining that they did not receive any notice of the proposal.
The article says that the second tower is intended for "FM broadcasting" but does not indicate what stations would go there, and adds, "The proposed 199-foot tower would allow the radio to stay on the air even during outages, like the ones that occurred during HURRICAN SANDY, according to MOORESTOWN zoning officer PETE CLIFFORD."
