The PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS reports that a remote on CBS RADIO Sports WIP-F/PHILADELPHIA at popular sports bar CHICKIE'S AND PETE'S in SOUTH PHILADELPHIA ended prematurely on FRIDAY, and that while the plug-pulling was ascribed to "technical difficulties," the paper's MOLLY EICHEL says that the end came when two hosts from rival GREATER MEDIA stations showed up to do a promotional appearance for their own giveaway.
WIP's afternoon team ANTHONY GARGANO and ROB ELLIS were broadcasting from the PLAY2 section of the restaurant when Rock WMMR host MATT CORD and Sports WPEN (97.5 THE FANATIC) host JON MARKS showed up.
EICHEL cites "multiple sources" as saying that the WIP remote was ended when GREATER MEDIA refused to allow its promotion in the main bar area to be moved to the back of the space and WIP OM ANDY BLOOM was upset in turn.
