On THURSDAY (1/30) at 9p, CNN will premier a special presentation of, "THE SIXTIES: THE BRITISH INVASION" as part of a 10-episode series of THE SIXTIES (including the previously released "ASSASSINATION OF JFK (1963).
"THE SIXTIES" is presented by multiple EMMY AWARD winning Executive Producers TOM HANKS and GARY GOETZMAN. Both episodes will air again when the full 10-part series of "THE SIXTIES" begins in MAY of 2014 focusing on the cultural impact that technology, drugs, music, "free love," and civil rights had on an entire generation.
The series coincides with the 50-year anniversary of THE BEATLES historical appearance on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW on FEBRUARY 9th, 1964 launching a revolution in fashion, hairstyles, advertising, politics, and sexual mores that have influenced virtually every aspect of modern AMERICAN life.
Throughout the special, legendary artists such as SMOKEY ROBINSON, GRAHAM NASH, THE ROOTS' AHMIR "QUESTLOVE" THOMPSON, MICKY DOLENZ of THE MONKEES, music journalist DAVID WILD and others will provide insights into the influence of the "BRITISH INVASION."
