We've all most likely seen the commercials and looked at pictures of orphans in AFRICA and other countries, and have wanted to do something to help. Many have been moved to donate monthly and "adopt" a child in need.
But PD/MARK MICHAELS from JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY Contemporary Christian KLRC (90.9)/SILOAM SPRINGS AR has taken that adoption step a leap further, and for the last year has been working to bring a young girl named RUTH home from GHANA to live with his family.
MARK and his family have been faithfully working to officially adopt RUTH, fighting against distractions and delays, and working to gain favor with key government officials. The journey has been filled with heartfelt struggle, bitter disappointments, celebrated victories, extreme circumstances, and steadfast hope.
Now they face a deadline of TOMORROW (THURSDAY JANUARY 30th) in their year long battle to receive approval in what was supposed to be a two or three day process. The KLRC listening family has initiated a PRAY FOR RUTH campaign, asking anyone who will join them to remember this family and little girl in prayer.
MARK MICHAELS sheds light on the current struggle, "We started our adoption process four years ago, and a year ago this week we met sweet RUTH and thought were just months away from bringing her home. While in Ghana we discovered some errors in our court decree. What we were told was a two or three day fix has turned into a year long battle through circumstances no one would believe. Our representative in GHANA was mugged and robbed of his ID papers. And now as we are so very close to getting everything we need, the US EMBASSY is threatening to shut down our case this week due to the length of the battle. Our listeners have been incredible, have ridden the roller-coaster with us, and have donated hundreds of items for RUTH's orphanage. We continue to pray, and wait for news that God has done something miraculous to bring our sweet RUTH home."
