WXPN Honors The Beatles During Their Winter Pledge Drive

UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Triple A WXPN/PHILADELPHIA’s winter membership fund drive is FEBRUARY 3rd through 7th. To spice things up during the week, the station will commemorate and celebrate the 50th anniversary of THE BEATLES’ historic arrival in the U.S. by presenting special BEATLES music programming
“When THE BEATLES Hit AMERICA Week” on WXPN will feature multiple BEATLES and BEATLES-related music features throughout the day, including:
* The Morning Show hosted by MICHAELA MAJOUN will focus on one BEATLES album each day, with listeners choosing their favorite album song for the show’s daily “Select-A-Song” feature.
* The Leicht Lunch (12p) with host HELEN LEICHT will feature various BEATLES music themes.
* The Top 5 at 5, presented by host DAN REED with listener input, will consist of an unforgettable five-song set of BEATLES’ music .
* Next FRIDAY (2/7), music from THE BEATLES and their members’ solo music will be played throughout the day.
On a side note,WXPN will also broadcast "Going Black: The Legacy of Philly Soul Radio" a new radio documentary produced by PHILADELPHIA nonprofit organization MIGHT WRITERS, on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd from 8-10p
The documentary is narrated by legendary “Sound of Philadelphia” producer KENNY GAMBLE and features conversations with disc jockeys, radio professionals, record company executives, musicians, journalists and scholars.
