HOWARD STERN threw a 60th birthday bash at the HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM in NEW YORK CITY that brought out enough A-list stars to compete with the OSCARS and GRAMMYS. The show was broadcast line on the Net for free.
Among those who either attended the affair or sent in video messages were ROBERT DOWNEY, JR., WHOOPI GOLDBERG, BARBARA WALTERS and KATIE COURIC, LOUIS CK, JERRY SEINFELD, ELLEN DEGENERES, SARAH SILVERMAN, JOAN RIVERS, LENA DUNHAM, KATHY GRIFFIN and BRYAN CRANSTON on the TV/movie side to talk hosts JIMMY KIMMEL (who hosted), DAVID LETTERMAN, JIMMY FALLON and SETH MEYERS, to rockers such as PAUL MCCARTNEY, ADAM LEVINE, JON BON JOVI, STEVEN TYLER, NATALIE MAINES, NEIL YOUNG, JAMES HETFIELD, DAVE GROHL, ROB ZOMBIE, JEWEL, JOHN FOGERTY, and THE BEACH BOYS (who changed "California Girls" into "We wish we all could be Mr. HOWARD STERN") to probably the biggest surprise of all, Gov. CHRIS CHRISTIE.
