An article in TODAY’s (2/17) NEW YORK POST outlines CUMULUS MEDIA’s plans to make its NASH brand ubiquitous in 2014, well beyond the recent national rollout of BLAIR GARNER’s morning show and the ongoing expansion of NASH positioning/branding to most of the company’s Country outlets.
AMERICAN MEDIA, INC (AMI) and CUMULUS MEDIA have announced a partnership to produce a glossy, 16-page section called NASH with AMI’s existing COUNTRY WEEKLY publication, effective with the MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24th edition.
A release from CUMULUS describes the NASH editorial supplement as, “Designed to provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at some of today’s hottest Country stars, industry news, and the personalities behind its popular radio broadcasts. The partnership leverages two of Country music’s leading brands to create the ultimate destination for news, insights, and access in a way that no other media property can.”
CUMULUS CEO LEW DICKEY said of the agreement, “We are excited to be partnering with AMI as we bring the NASH brand to life in print. The talented and dedicated staff at COUNTRY WEEKLY has consistently informed the passionate base of Country music across AMERICA. We look forward to leveraging both brands to create an unparalleled experience for Country music fans and another important point of engagement for our clients.”
The integration of NASH into the pages of COUNTRY WEEKLY is just the beginning of a deeper partnership between CUMULUS and AMI that will include COUNTRY WEEKLY’s inclusion in NASH’s radio programming. The two companies will also collaborate on a website providing business and lifestyle aspects of the Country music industry.
“This agreement is a transforming event for COUNTRY WEEKLY," said AMERICAN MEDIA Pres./CEO DAVID PECKER. "Partnering with CUMULUS MEDIA and combining their reach and voice with our expertise in print media will deliver an extraordinary consumer experience that is unmatched in the industry.”
In addition, CUMULUS CEO/Chairman LEW DICKEY has a five-point expansion plan, according to THE POST, that includes the following:
- A dedicated NASH channel on digital radio service RDIO, in which CUMULUS recently purchased a major stake.
- Launch a NASH BASH concert series.
- Team with a cable channel to form the NASH NETWORK.
- Establish a home-goods line including furniture, paint and clothing.
- Explore a partnership with GUGGENHEIM MEDIA’s DICK CLARK PRODUCTIONS to create a new Country awards show for radio.
