GOW BROADCASTING and YAHOO! SPORTS RADIO principal DAVID GOW has taken to KICKSTARTER to raise funds to launch a sportscaster training camp, reports the HOUSTON CHRONICLE's DAVID BARRON.
The crowdfunding campaign is looking for $70,000 in pledges to move forward, with a deadline of MARCH 14th; $13,040 has been pledged as of THURSDAY morning. GOW wrote, "(M)y vision is to create a top flight sports media training camp. I plan to bring together a blue-chip team of people and resources that will provide exceptional training."
The faculty would include some of YAHOO! SPORTS RADIO's talent, including STEVE CZABAN, TRAVIS RODGERS, SEAN SALISBURY and BOB RYAN, along with RICE UNIVERSITY's CLARK HAPTONSTALL; the camp would instruct 20 students at a time in sportscasting on all platforms.
Money raised from the KICKSTARTER would pay teachers, purchase equipment, and set up video space. "Our aspirations are high," GOW wrote. "We want to create an exceptional program that will launch the careers of the next great broadcasters."
