The widely-reported "protest" of JUSTIN BIEBER's move to the BUCKHEAD neighborhood in ATLANTA was actually a prank on the media by CUMULUS Rock WNNX (ROCK 100.5)/ATLANTA morning team THE REGULAR GUYS.
The stunt, in which co-host/producer TIM ANDREWS posed as spokesman "HAROLD WHITE" for interviews and interns and staffers posed as the "BUCKHEAD NEIGHBORHOOD COALITION" and made signs telling the Canadian teen pop star not to move to ATLANTA, drew coverage nationwide and overseas as well, including CNN, the NEW YORK POST, the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, THE GUARDIAN, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, the BBC, CANADA's NATIONAL POST, and hundreds of other outlets. Only local alternative weekly CREATIVE LOAFING suspected that the protest was a joke, noting that the protesters' first TWITTER post was shared by two REGULAR GUYS interns and that the timing of the protest -- 6a on a residential street -- seemed suspect.
Hear the prank as it unfolded here.
