They call themselves TEAM FREEDOM, a group of 260 listeners to THE MORNING CRUISE on RADIO TRAINING NETWORK Contemporary Christian WJIS (THE JOY FM)/TAMPA-ATLANTA. And they are committed to do their part in putting an end to human trafficking.
On FEBRUARY 23rd-24th, TEAM FREEDOM participated in the GASPARILLA DISTANCE CLASSIC in TAMPA, running in support of ABOLITION INTERNATIONAL. Collectively, the group raised $114,260.14 to support Abolition and ran in various races "for those not free to run. . .yet."
This was the third year of participation by THE MORNING CRUISE, led by PD/CARMEN BROWN. CARMEN established a partnership with CURB recording artist NATALIE GRANT, founder of ABOLITION INTERNATIONAL in 2012, and together they formed FREE TO RUN.
At the PRINCESS AND PIRATE PASTA PARTY before the race, ABOLITION Pres-Exec. Dir./STACIA FREEMAN and BROWN announced their intention to explore the building of a home for restorative care in TAMPA. This is a goal which, BROWN said, "would bring this effort home for those who have sacrificed and donated to the cause."
Previous FREE TO RUN efforts have contributed to WELLSPRING LIVING in the ATLANTA area, an ABOLITION partner home for survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse. ABOLITION INTERNATIONAL works globally and locally to end human trafficking through education, empowerment and restorative care.
