GREATER MEDIA News-Talk WBT-A/CHARLOTTE will air 10 SATURDAY night CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS minor league baseball home games this season plus Opening Day and JULY 4th, as the team moves into the new BB&T BALLPARK in Uptown CHARLOTTE. The KNIGHTS air their full schedule on crosstown HRN BROADCASTING Sports WZGV-A (ESPN 730) and will also air on affilate OUR THREE SONS BROADCASTING Talk WRHI-A-W232AX/ROCK HILL, SC. WBT Sports Director JIM SZOKE will call the games on WBT, while MATT SWIERAD and MIKE PACHECO will call the games on ESPN 730 and WRHI.
KNIGHTS EVP/COO DAN RAJKOWSKI said, "The opportunity to add WBT to our broadcasting network was very appealing to us. Their signal, combined with vision and talent for radio broadcasting, made them an absolute great fit for the KNIGHTS. It's very pleasing for us to know that our fans will hear CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS games on WBT, along with our flagship station ESPN 730 AM, and in SOUTH CAROLINA on WRHI (94.3 FM and 1340 AM)."
GREATER MEDIA CHARLOTTE VP/GM RICK FEINBLATT added, "We are very excited to expand our partnership with the CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS and look forward to a unique and entertaining broadcast that fits the needs of the CHARLOTTE community."
The KNIGHTS are moving back into CHARLOTTE after playing at KNIGHTS STADIUM (formerly KNIGHTS CASTLE) in FORT MILL, SC from 1990 through last season; the city's minor league franchises (CHARLOTTE HORNETS, CHARLOTTE ORIOLES, and the KNIGHTS) played at CROCKETT PARK (formerly CLARK GRIFFITH PARK) in CHARLOTTE from 1940 through 1989.
