With little comment, the FCC has denied DAVID SMITH and others' Applications for Review of the grants of license renewals for EMMIS Sports WFNI-A (THE FAN), AC WYXB (SOFT ROCK B105.7), and Country WLHK (97.1 HANK FM)/INDIANAPOLIS and Classic Rock WWVR (105.5 THE RIVER) and Country WTHI (HI-99)/TERRE HAUTE and MERLIN (now CUMULUS) Alternative WKQX/CHICAGO. SMITH, PETER LABARBERA, KATHY VALENTE, ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE, and ILLINOIS Chapter of the CONCERNED WOMEN FOR AMERICA challenged the licenses.
SMITH was a frequent critic of former WKQX morning man MANCOW MULLER when EMMIS owned the station.
The terse decision said, "Upon review of the AFRs and the entire record, and finding no basis in the Applications for Review to modify any of the Bureau’s decisions, we conclude that SMITH and Petitioners have failed to demonstrate that the Bureau erred."
