Online ticketing platform EVENTBRITE released at new study, EDM Fan Social Media Listening Study at SXSW 2014 in AUSTIN today, which examined the growth of Electronic Dance Music. The study analyzed over 70 million social media posts of EDM music fans to come up with several conclusions.
Chief among them is the finding that EDM fans tweet 11 times a day, far more often than the two times a day of the average TWITTER user. EDM fans talked about the music in one-third of their postings -- nearly 10 million posts in 2013 alone.
EDM fans also talk about concerts they're attending or have attended; one of every four posts discussed live events, which is about 30% more than the average music fan.
"Dance lovers are super-fans," EVENTBRITE Head of Music Marketing MARTINA WANG noted. "There is a huge opportunity for the industry to tap into this highly social, passionate group of people."
