NEIL YOUNG used the SXSW Festival to introduce "PONO," described as "a digital music service and device designed to bring the highest-quality digital music to consumers."
YOUNG has been a long-time critic about the quality of digital music formats.
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, EDDIE VEDDER, TOM PETTY and STING were just some of the artists who joined YOUNG in a video to promote a KICKSTARTER campaign for the launch of PONO.
"Every part of my body is getting hit with this," said YOUNG. "My soul is feeling it. I am doing what I use to do: I'm listening. I'm feeling. And I'm experiencing. I am living music."
The concept of PONO is to boost digital music from the compressed formats to a high-quality resolution. PONO will stream music in 24-bit, 192 kHz sound.
