An official announcement is said to be coming this morning (3/24), but ALL ACCESS has learned the BIG MACHINE LABEL GROUP will revive DOT RECORDS in a new joint venture with REPUBLIC RECORDS according to the NEW YORK TIMES.
Additionally, ALL ACCESS has learned that former WARNER MUSIC NASHVILLE SVP/Promotion CHRIS STACEY (NET NEWS 2/4) will serve as GM for DOT.
The DOT imprint originally operated between 1950-1977 and was home to music stars of all genres, such as LOUIS ARMSTRONG and PAT BOONE as well as Country artists BARBARA MANDRELL, DON WILLIAMS, DONNA FARGO, FREDDY FENDER and many others.
DOT's new artists roster hasn't been revealed.
BIG MACHINE's SCOTT BORCHETTA told the NEW YORK TIMES, "As NASHVILLE has firmly established itself as a world music center, this will give us the opportunity to continue aggressively in the Country space, but also gives us a lot of available lanes to do pretty much whatever we want."
