Kudos to the team at COLUMBIA/LEGACY for the #1 debut of JOHNNY CASH’s “Out Among The Stars” album this week on the Country album chart.
The collection of 12 previously unreleased songs recorded 30 years ago sold nearly 54,000 copies in its first week, according to NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN figures.
The album ranked #3 on this week's all-genre album sales chart.
The tracks for "Out Among The Stars" were discovered by CASH’s son, JOHN CARTER CASH. Produced by BILLY SHERRILL, they were recorded at various times during the 80’s but ultimately, shelved by CASH’s record label. The album features appearances by JUNE CARTER CASH, WAYLON JENNINGS, MARTY STUART and an uncredited sample of MINNIE PEARL.
CASH passed away in 2003.
