"Mass layoffs" are how the changes at UNIVISION/CHICAGO are being described. CHICAGO RADIO AND MEDIA reports, " It is not known exactly how many staffers were released today. UNIVISION's local management is not allowed to speak publicly about this subject, directing all queries to a national spokesperson. UNIVISION's Corporate Communications office says that it is against their rules to comment on any personnel matters, which includes even acknowledging an employee's exit or stating a number of the local staffers released."
The report does note 10-year vet JESSE "EL GRANDOTE" BECERRA is gone from WOJO, MIGUEL "EL MOSTRO" VASQUEZ exits WVIX/WVIV, host/producer ERIC GARCIA and traffic reporter JESSE CAMARGO are confirmed to have been cut from the cluster.
"Insiders claim that UNIVISION/CHICAGO also dismissed quite a few other staffers, including remote technicians, business managers, and account executives," adds CHICAGO RADIO AND MEDIA. All were told the company is "restructuring."
