On WEDNESDAY (NET NEWS 4/2), ALL ACCESS reported UNIVISION RADIO Spanish Tropical WXNY/NEW YORK PD ALEX QUINTERO exited as the company trims in NEW YORK.
Then YESTERDAY, it was CHICAGO that felt the brunt of layoffs (NET NEWS 4/3). The total number of layoffs are unconfirmed, but are thought to be over 100.
Now, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES explains, "rather than rely on staff at the various stations, the company instead is creating three programming centers -- in LOS ANGELES, SAN ANTONIO and MIAMI -- to produce entertainment for the station chain."
“The content teams ... will provide customized and localized content across all of our markets, digital, and beyond,” UNIVISION RADIO Pres. JOSE VALLE wrote this week in an open letter. “Local promotions and activation teams, as well as local DJs, will continue serving clients and local audiences in each and every market.”
Industry insiders expect UNIVISION to offer a public offering of its stock this year or early next year.
