WSB Traffic Reporter Captain Herb Emory Dies

Condolences to family and friends of longtime ATLANTA radio personality and COX MEDIA GROUP News-Talk WSB-A-WSBB and ABC affiliate WSB-TV/ATLANTA helicopter traffic reporter "CAPTAIN HERB" EMORY, who died SATURDAY of a heart attack after stopping to help victims of a car accident in DOUGLASVILLE, GA. He was 61.
EMORY started at WPNF-A/BREVARD, NC and then interned at WIIN-A/ATLANTA for SKINNY BOBBY HARPER. He worked at several stations around the ATLANTA area including WSNE, WDGL-A, WFOM-A, and WACX-A before a stint at WQXI-A-WSTR and GEORGIA NETWORK NEWS in 1978-91, where he worked for 12 years; he joined WSB-A in 1991, handling traffic in drive time and hosting a NASCAR show on the weekends. He was inducted into the GEORGIA RADIO HALL OF FAME in 2008.
