JVC BROADCASTING Top 40/Rhythmic WPTY (PARTY 105.3)/LONG ISLAND recently teamed with entertainer NICK CANNON for the NICK CANNON 'TAKEOVER FOOD DRIVE' for LONG ISLAND CARES. PARTY 105.3 and artist and host of NBC-TV's AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, NICK CANNON, pushed local schools to bring in 139, 158 pounds of food for LONG ISLAND CARES. That number is the equivalent of over 115,000 meals for hungry residents of LONG ISLAND's NASSAU and SUFFOLK counties.
On FRIDAY (4/11), PARTY 105.3 brought CANNON to the winning school, SETAUKET ELEMENTARY, as Principal for the day and later the station, CANNON and the SETAUKET ELEMENTARY students and staff took over AIRTRAMPOLINE for music and fun.
WPTY PD MURPH DAWG commented, "This was one of the biggest, successful food drives in the history of LONG ISLAND, and I am truly humbled beyond all belief of the amount of food, schools on LONG ISLAND raised to have NICK CANNON as their principal for the day. It’s a grand slam in every way possible. To be able to create over 115,000 meals from the food donated really puts things into perspective of how the holidays aren't the only time that food banks need help."
