CAPITOL RECORDS' artist SAM SMITH played the first of two shows (4/15-16) last night at L.A.'s historic and beautifully restored BELASCO THEATRE. The U.K. singer-songwriter's rich voice and soul-pop melodies drew enthusiastic responses from the heavily populated female audience.
Fresh from his appearance at COACHELLA, SMITH opened with "Nirvana," the title track from an ep that was released earlier this year. The set also included a downtempo version of his song with DISCLOSURE, "Latch," as well as his current U.S. and worldwide smash with NAUGHTY BOY, "La La La."
He performed many tracks from his forthcoming debut album, "In The Lonely Hour," including "Money On My Mind," "Lay Me Down" and the evening's closer, the powerful "Stay With Me" (the latter two he recently performed on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE).
Radio peeps who came in to enjoy the sights and sounds included JOHN MICHAEL (KAMP), MICHAEL LACROSSE (KOST), CHRIS PATYK (KEGY), CHRIS PETERS (KRQQ/KMIY), J LOVE (KMXB/KXTE), BROADWAY QUAY (KFYV/KCAQ).
ALL ACCESS wishes to thank our CAPITOL RECORDS hosts GREG THOMPSON, DENNIS REESE, JOE RAINEY, MEGAN YOUNGBLOOD and BRIEN TERRANOVA for a fantastic night of entertainment.
