FCC Denies Challenge To Bernard Ohio Stations' Renewals, WYLR Sale

The FCC has denied an Application for Review by former owner PERCY SQUIRE of the grant of the sale of Contemporary Christian WYLR (K-LOVE)/HUBBARD, OH by successor BERNARD OHIO, LLC to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION, the application to modify WYLR's license, and the renewals of the licenses of BERNARD OHIO, LLC stations WYLR, WVKO-A/COLUMBUS, WVKO-F/JOHNSTOWN, OH, WASN-A/YOUNGSTOWN, and WGFT-A/CAMPBELL, OH.

The Commission ruled that SQUIRE, the former STOP 26 RIVERBEND principal, had previously raised the issues in his Application for Review -- the claims that BERNARD had excessive foreign ownership and had allowed unauthorized control of the stations -- and that they had already been rejected.

The FCC also entered a consent decree with TOCCOA FALLS COLLEGE settling public file violations at noncommercial WTXR (THE EAGLE 89.7)/TOCCOA FALLS, GA.  The agreement reduces the previously-imposed $10,000 fine to a $1,000 "voluntary contribution" to the U.S. Treasury.
